Today, Apple is going to reveal its new iPhone 15 series during the much-awaited Wonderlust event. You can catch the event live from Apple’s office in Cupertino, starting at 10:30 pm Indian time.
USB Type-C Compatibility:
Apple is changing the iPhone 15 series by adopting USB Type-C, partly because of EU rules. Regular iPhone 15 models might have slower charging unless you use Apple-approved cables. The faster data transfer speed will be available exclusively on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
Apple has usually used its particular Lightning port, but the European Union has been pushing for more standardized device connections. This has led to the widespread adoption of USB-C across the industry, and Apple’s choice may be seen as a way to comply with these regulations.
iPhone 15 Series:
Today’s Apple event will showcase four new iPhones: the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are likely to feature a glass back and aluminum sides. On the other hand, the higher-end Pro models are expected to sport a titanium design, making them more durable and around 10% lighter, as per a Bloomberg report.
The Pro models will be powered by the new A17 chipset, built using a 3-nanometer process, promising better performance and longer battery life. In contrast, the base models may stick with last year’s A16 chipset.
Additionally, Apple has used a manufacturing technique called LIPO, or Low Injection Pressure Overmolding, on the Pro versions to slim down the screen bezels and enhance screen size.
New Apple Watches:
This year, Apple is launching updates to two watch series: the Apple Watch Series 9 in 41mm and 45mm sizes, and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in a larger 49mm size. These watches are expected to retain a similar design to last year’s models but will have some minor design tweaks, according to Bloomberg.
Apple AirPods Update:
Apple is shifting its accessories from Lightning to a new standard, starting with the popular AirPods Pro. They also plan to bring USB-C charging to regular AirPods and AirPods Max, likely within a year.
AirPods Features:
While the earbuds may not get a big hardware update, new features like muting/unmuting, conversation awareness (which pauses media when you talk), and more could come through a software update.
iOS 17 and More:
Apple is expected to tell us when iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17 will be available. These were introduced at WWDC 23 in June.
