Analogue, the company that makes classic game consoles like Analogue Pocket and Super Nt, is working on a new system that will bring the Nintendo 64 back to life in a fresh way.

Coming out in 2024, the Analogue 3D will let you play Nintendo 64 games in stunning 4K resolution. It will also offer authentic display options that recreate the look of classic CRT and PVM screens.

Similar to Analogue’s previous retro consoles, the 3D doesn’t rely on emulation. Instead, it runs games directly on hardware, using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip that mimics the original N64’s performance.

A cartridge slot on the system allows legacy game cartridges to be played. In Analogue’s words, it is “the first and only aftermarket solution with 100% compatibility across all regions.”. USA, EU & JP.

The 3D console will offer wireless Bluetooth and 2.4G connectivity, as well as four original-style controller ports.

While the price hasn’t been revealed yet, those interested in buying the Analogue 3D can express their interest on their website. Previous Analogue consoles have typically been priced between $200 and $250.

The Nintendo 64, initially known as Project Reality and then the Ultra 64, was first launched in Japan in June 1996, followed by North America in September 1996 and Europe in March 1997.

The Nintendo 64 was a significant milestone for Nintendo, marking their initial venture into polygonal graphics, although some polygonal games had appeared on the SNES thanks to the Super FX chip.

Moreover, it’s known for being one of the first systems to come with an analogue controller as a standard feature and for introducing four controller ports, enabling four-player multiplayer without the need for additional add-ons.
