Masters 2024: Day 1 Timings Delayed by Bad Weather

Masters 2024: The first day of the 2024 Masters at Augusta National has been delayed because of bad weather. The golf tournament was supposed to start on Thursday, April 11 at 8:00 am ET, but it will now start no earlier than 9 am.

There was a lot of rain overnight and it continued into Thursday morning, making the golf course wet after three dry practice days. The weather is expected to get even worse. The organizers announced the delay on The Masters’ website on Wednesday.

The statement stated:

“Due to forecasted weather on Thursday, we have decided to delay all gate openings in the morning. All Masters free parking will be closed until further notice while gate openings are delayed.”

Officials provided an update on Thursday:

2024 Masters delayed

It’s important to mention that weather delays have happened before at the Masters. The last five tournaments had to stop because of bad weather. This year, the forecast for Thursday’s first round predicts a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms. Wind gusts near the course could reach up to 45mph.
