Ben McLemore: What Happened? NBA Player Faces Charges, Enters Clackamas County Jail

Ben McLemore used to play in the NBA, but now he’s facing serious trouble. He spent some time with the Portland Trail Blazers two seasons ago, playing quite a few games. However, this Tuesday, things took a dark turn as he got arrested. The police in Clackamas County suspect him of committing severe crimes like rape and other sex offenses.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office handled McLemore’s arrest on Tuesday morning. They had a warrant for him from Clackamas County, so they took him into custody. After the arrest, they transported him to the Clackamas County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.

On Tuesday, the 31-year-old man went to the Multnomah County jail in Portland on his own. By Wednesday morning, he was moved to the Clackamas County Jail. Now, he’s facing serious charges like first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, and second-degree sexual abuse.

Despite these charges, McLemore is still listed as a player on the Río Breogán team in Spain. Right now, we don’t know many details about the alleged crimes he’s accused of. We might learn more about what happened by Wednesday afternoon. McLemore joined the Blazers as a free agent in August 2021.

Ben McLemore NBA Career

Once he finished playing basketball for Kansas in college, McLemore got chosen by the Sacramento Kings as the 7th pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He played with the Kings for four seasons first. Then he went on to play for Memphis, returned to the Kings for a while, joined Houston, and eventually ended up with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After finishing his time with Portland for just one season, McLemore left the NBA. Instead, he went to play basketball in other countries like China, Greece, and Spain.

Throughout his nine seasons in the NBA, McLemore scored an average of 9.0 points per game and played in more than 556 games. He started his NBA journey when the Sacramento Kings picked him as the seventh overall player from Kansas in the 2013 NBA draft. During his career, he played for five different teams: the Kings again, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers, and finally the Blazers in his last NBA season.

During the 2021–2022 season, McLemore played well in 64 games for the Blazers, scoring an average of 10.2 points in just 20.1 minutes per game.

After that season, McLemore decided to play basketball overseas. He signed contracts with teams in China, Greece, and Spain, with his latest team being Río Breogán in Spain’s Liga ACB league.
